Great Wall Motors (GWM) is poised to make a major impact in Brazil with its main production plant located in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, after the company invested more than R$10 billion in the country. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, including luxury off-road SUVs offered by the Tank brand, on-road SUVs by Haval, and pick-up trucks by Poer. All vehicles produced in Brazil will come with standard connectivity and semi-autonomous Level 2 safety systems. Moreover, GWM cars will be voice-command enabled, making it easy to perform simple car functions such as closing windows or opening a sunroof. The cars will also be equipped to handle the 5G connectivity feature.

GWM Haval H6 GT, the plug-in hybrid model that starts in Brazil in 2023, was unveiled last week during a cocktail presentation in São Paulo. Auto enthusiasts got a chance to test the vehicle on the famed Interlagos track, and the feedback was awesome. The H6 GT is powered by three engines, including a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine and two electric engines running off a 34 kWh battery. Altogether, the total power output is 393 hp and 77.7 lb-ft of torque, impressive numbers in their own right.

The H6 GT is a hybrid plug-in (PHEV) model and the fastest car produced by GWM to hit Brazil’s roads to date. It can clock 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, joining the ranks of Porsche Cayenne and Macan. The car has a range of 170 km on electric power alone, and its full fuel tank combined with electric power can go up to a maximum of 1,052 km. The battery can charge quickly in just 30 minutes with a direct current (up to 48 kW / h), delivering between 10% to 80% of the battery’s total charge. When using an alternative current (up to 6.6 kW / h), charge time goes up to 5 hours to get 100% charge.

This GWM model will come with suspension and steering for the Brazilian market, making it palatable for fans of the brand in the country. The Haval H6 GT features a modern, innovative design and a unique exterior, which includes full LED headlights, an eye-catching front bumpers, a black glossy honeycomb grill, and even imitations of carbon fiber in different parts. The ride’s roof angles from the C-pillar, bestowing a coupe’s look while the full 19“ wheels fit Michelin 235/55 tires that give a robust look to the car.

Inside, the vehicle has front seats with electric adjustment and ventilation. The HVAC system is dual-zoned and includes backseat vents, while five USBs help keep passengers connected and a wireless cell phone charging pad. The Haval H6’s dashboard contains only a few visible switches, with the rest of the car’s functions controlled through a 12-inch touch screen audio-visual display. Moreover, the dashboard features a fully digital instrument panel with a 10.2-inch display.

Additionally, the H6 comes with 5 cameras, and 14 radars for advanced steering assist, 360-degree view cameras, blind-spot alerts, rear collision signals, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and lane departure assist. The SUV also includes a facial recognition camera and fatigue-reducing driver assistance. The car has both front-standard airbags, head airbags, and side airbags. Finally, the SUV includes LED headlights and a panoramic glass roof as standard extras.

At present, the manufacturer has not announced Haval H6 GT’s price, but during the event, executives hinted it could cost less than BRL 300,000. For those who want to purchase this GWM model, the company is working on online purchase mechanisms, including a partnership with Mercado Livre, Brazil’s best-known online trading platform. The car will be delivered directly to the customer’s home.

In conclusion, the Haval H6 GT could be an attractive option for those who want a hybrid vehicle without sacrificing power and acceleration. GWM, with its Brazilian production facility, distribution network and service centers, may provide an innovative, cost-effective, and potent choice for car buyers looking for performance vehicles with cutting-edge safety and security features. With a model like the Haval H6 GT, the brand already shows that it can compete with the top names in the industry.
